This article is for GPs who have already been approved to join Legion Equity and are setting up their syndicate for the first time. If you haven't applied yet, see How GPs join the platform.
Once you're approved, you'll see a setup checklist on your dashboard. There are 7 steps, and you can work through them at your own pace. This article walks through each one and explains what LPs will see when your profile goes live.
The setup checklist
Your dashboard shows a persistent "Finish setting up — X of 7 Done" checklist. The 7 steps:
Choose your entity type — select the legal structure of your syndicate.
Add your firm details — firm name, jurisdiction, registration.
Add your team — the people behind the syndicate.
Add your fund history — prior funds and track record.
Publish your profile — make your profile live. LPs cannot apply to join your syndicate until you publish.
Invite members — send invitations to LPs to join your syndicate.
List your first deal — create your first SPV.
The most important gate is step 5 — publish your profile. Until then, your profile is in Draft and LPs cannot find or apply to your syndicate.
Identity verification (separate from the checklist)
Identity verification is live, handled by Legion's verification partner Persona, under Your Account → Compliance → Legal Entities. It is not part of the setup checklist — you verify your legal entity separately, when you're ready to transact.
The verify flow is 2 steps: Identity → Entity Ready.
Identity: verify through Persona — scan a QR code with your phone or continue in a new tab. You'll be asked for a taxpayer identification number (TIN). If Persona routes the case to manual review, that typically takes 1–2 business days.
Entity Ready: once identity clears, the entity shows as verified.
Verified entities can be reused across Deal, Special Partner, and Sub-Adviser workflows — so verification gates deal activity rather than profile setup.
If verification isn't progressing, check Persona's status page at status.withpersona.com, then reach out via chat if it persists.
Where to find each step in your account
Most of the setup happens under Your Account (accessed via the profile icon top-right). Your Account is organised into four sections:
Profile — Fund profile, Background
Firm — Team, Track Record, Fund History
Compliance — Legal Entities (identity verification via Persona)
Account — Settings, Admins
Steps 1 and 2 live under Profile → Fund profile. Steps 3 and 4 live under Firm. Steps 5, 6, and 7 are accessed from the top navigation (Profile, Investment Group, Fundraising tabs respectively).
Your public profile — what LPs see
Your profile is the surface LPs use to evaluate your syndicate. The view you edit is exactly what investors see — there are no hidden fields. The editor shows a "This is exactly what investors see" notice at the top.
Header
Your profile header shows:
Your avatar and name
A verification badge (Not verified until you complete identity verification under Compliance → Legal Entities)
Top-line stats: Deals, Raised, Avg TVPI, Members
An Apply button (LPs click this to request to join)
A Share button
Overview tab — content blocks
The Overview tab is where you tell your story. You build it from stackable blocks:
Block | Purpose |
Pitch video | Short hook — plays as the hero on your profile |
Deep-dive video | Long-form walkthrough investors can watch on demand |
Story & team | Bio and the people behind your deals. Required to publish. |
Track record | Historical performance |
Fund history | Prior funds and outcomes |
Socials | Links to your X, LinkedIn, and other social presence |
You can add multiple video blocks if you have more than one pitch or walkthrough.
Other tabs
Content — additional content you publish over time
Vouches — endorsements from other Legion members
What happens when an LP applies
When an LP clicks Apply on your profile, they're told: "This active syndicate reviews applications before granting access to member-only deal flow and activity." You review their application from your Investment Group tab and approve or decline.
How long does setup take?
Most of the checklist can be completed in an afternoon if you have your firm details, team bios, and fund history ready. Identity verification (done separately under Compliance → Legal Entities) is typically fast via Persona, though it can take 1–2 business days if the case is routed to manual review.
I've completed everything — what now?
Once your profile is published, you've invited some initial members, your legal entity is verified, and your first deal is listed, your syndicate is live. LPs can apply to join, review your deals, and invest. For deal mechanics, see Understanding SPVs and Capital calls: what to expect.
